About the Conference
Stories have the power to touch the heart, mind and soul. This conference will explore how to harness the power of listening as a means to facilitate grieving and promote healing. Participants will learn to hear and see the connections between cultures, religions and people, and to support the process of finding meaning in the end of life journey.
Who Should Attend
This conference will benefit spiritual leaders, lay leaders and parish nurses in the faith community, as well as health care providers, especially those involved in hospice and palliative care.
Conference Objectives
1. Examine personal and professional frameworks for influencing patient and family health through narrative techniques.
2. Offer strategies for enhancing listening skills to better understand the patient’s story.
3. Discuss the therapeutic effects of journaling during the last months of life.
4. Summarize ways in which storytelling can provide comfort and healing at end of life.

Resources
Our website has a number of resources that will be helpful to those who are interested in learning more about providing holistic, compassionate care to patients and families facing end-of-life issues. Because Palette of Faith is a multidisciplinary coalition, we are providing resources of interest to health professionals, community clergy, social workers, chaplains, community leaders, family caregivers, and patients living with serious illness. You will find three types of resources available through drop-down menus:
Helpful websites for related organizations, including professional organizations for hospice and palliative care health professionals, chaplains, and social workers; and for related topics, including medical care, bioethics, advance care planning, consumer educational resources, compassionate caregiving, and spiritual and religious resources.
Education articles and presentations includes specific literature and presentations on topics of interest to health care and faith community professionals and caregivers; and advance directive forms for Ohio in English and Spanish, along with explanatory material and frequently-asked questions. There is also a form for spiritual care advance directives, designed by a member of Palette of Faith.
Past conferences includes, as available, presentations and other information from our annual Palette of Faith conferences.
